Ask the Mind: Managing your mental health can look like...


Self-care plays a profound role in us managing our mental health. having it be part of our lives has positive effects on our health. however, self-care is a commitment and it takes the right intention to invest in yourself and you are well being, after all, we only have one life to live it is important to take good care of ourselves.

Living in a digital age, we are constantly finding a way to use technology. The social network is one of those ways we use to connect with people who are further away from us. However, we must occasionally disconnect from social media and limit our use of it. This is because it can cause FOMO (Fear of missing out). in many instances when we go through FOMO it usually leads to overthinking and this is NOT a healthy habit for our mental health.

Taking a break is also a great way to manage our mental health. Most of us often experience burnout and only when it gets severe do we tend to seek help and rest. Hence we must take breaks. Taking breaks can benefit us if we find ways to maximize the time we are given. For example, some of us taking intervals in between a hectic day can not only energize us but motivate us to keep going. on the other hand, if the week has a hectic week and doesn't recover from that week it will eventually lead to burnout which not only harms our mental health but also our physical health.

Being active and exercising is like killing two birds with one stone. being active and doing activities we enjoy does not only give a sense of fulfillment but also helps in keeping us motivated. Exercising is not only a way for us to clear our minds but also keeps our bodies healthy. this helps in our physical and mental health.

Journaling is a good way for those of us who are serial overthinkers. journaling is one of the ways to organize our thoughts. Not only that it is also helpful for when we set goals for the future. this is also one way to look back and reflect on the experiences we have had and the growth that we have been through.

Eating good healthy food keeps us feeling good from the inside. not only that, when we maintain a healthy lifestyle with healthy habits we are less likely to fall into a spiral. eating health or making healthy choices helps us to feel better, keeps us safe from illnesses, and also provides us sufficient energy especially for when days are just longer.

Talking about your feeling is always a difficult subject as some of us are not used to sitting down and processing our feelings. With that being said, speaking to someone about it is one of the best ways to process our feelings whether we do it in a professional setting or informally with our loved ones. This is because when we process our feelings having someone else clarify our thoughts and lend a hand is a way to show us a different perception of the problems we face.
